We did our first night fishing trip this weekend and we had a blast. The herring came to the lights within the first hour and using sabike rigs we caught all the bait we wanted, most of the fish that we caught where small fish with the biggest one being about 24 inches. We where run off the lake for awhile by a passing storm which in turn we had to start all over with attracting bait by the lights. We anchor up in deep water adjacent to a hump or a point and stay for the entire night. The longer you stay the more herring come to the lights. By the morning you have a huge school of bait around the boat. I agree with teach about the population of herring. There by no stretch a shortage of herring.
See you on the lake next time.
