    Default Nottaway ~ Southampton Co

Launched at the 650/671 boat ramp behind the house at 9 am and went (towards Courtland).....I guessed all the other folks would be towards the NC line and Blackwater.....

armed with crickets and nitecrawlers - tied off to some snags where ever we found shade and a drop off combo.

water temp was 73* and 8ft deep most places we stopped -

ended up with 11 bluegill, 4 ok catfish and 1 nice big white perch -

I love fishing that stretch of river because you can catch a variety in there. Although I haven't fished it in several years. There are a ton of big bowfin in there which isn't a good thing but they put up a good fight. I'm going to have to get back out there one day. Thanks for the report Jamie.

lots of shell crackers now...better off tieing the boat to a stump and wade while you drift bobbers down stream close to the bank in the shade

I agree about the wadding if you get in the right water with the right bottom, did you find that boat ramp I was telling you about?

No problem, glad you found it good luck. One of the things we used to tear the panfish up with is a orange beetle spin, just a simple one not the one with the curly tail just the beetle. Might find an occasional smallie in there also.
