Jekyll Island

I am going to be headed down to jekyll island mid-march and will be staying a few houses down from the beach. Does anyone know what the fishing will be like down there at that time or would I just be wasting my time? Also does anyone know any Georgia specific fishing forums? Thanks

should be reds and specks around. im looking for any additional info though.

I was down there about 15 years ago and found out that the Brunswick River is very polluted! It's also the econd largest breeding ground for sharks on the East Coast. I was told that you need to go anywhere from 40-60 miles off-shore to find the Blue Water. I hope things have changed since then but given the last 8 years administration's record on the environment I doubt they've changed for the better.

Was down ther at the Federal Law enf. Training Center last year the last 2 weeks of March 1st weel of April. Went on a guided trip for specks and puppies, It was good even thought the fish were a little small. If you need guide info I think I could find it, let me know I went out of a place called Mudcat Charlies near Brunswick.

I went down to St Simons back in September and went out with Capt Richard Latham of Creekside Charters and did an inshore trip for trout and reds. The trout bite was on early and the reds picked up as the day warmed up. Caught 9 different types of fish including a 20 inck snook and hooking a shark that we lost at the boat. Capt Richard leaves from the St Simons Marina dock. You can also try the fishing peir on St Simons or the old bridge over the Turtle River. Here's the links to Creekside Charters

I am a guide about 30min north of Jeckyll and fish that area sometimes. You can walk the beach front with a jig and scented soft bait like berkley gulp and catch specks in the troughs. Our area is not known for big trout as our bag limit is WAY to generous at 15 per angler. So I mainly target redfish. We have some great flats fishing up my way and plenty of big fish. If sight fishing is what you are looking for, we have it.
Great catch on the snook willie, but it is somewhat rare to catch snook in our area due to the extreme temperarue changes in the water during the year. hope this helps out a little.

Went down to FLETC last Aug. spent 3 months down there. Went fishing just about every weekend. I caught lots of what the locals called whiting, looked like a small red drum I thought. When you cross the bridge into jeckyll go to the T in the road and there is a fishing shop in the shopping center on your left. If they can't help you over on St. Simmons by the shark pier there is another one by that little cafe on the corner across from the gas station. good luck you going to need it down there with those nut bags.
