I received a first hand report from Richard White, Jr. on the monster pending new Virginia State Record striped bass caught yesterday. Way to go guys, what a sick catch! Check this fishing report out,
"We went out with every report not sounding good. We were on the Bada Bing with Capt. Tim Cannon from Pungo and I was mating from Chesapeake.
My father and brother-n-law drove down Fri morning from Brentsville, VA. We had good markings of bait of off Cape Henry but the bite was very slow. We caught one dog shark and a couple of hours later we had a rod double down with dead weight pulling. SUPER-SIZED 74-POUND STRIPER! One of the largest striped bass ever caught on rod and reel was hooked, battled and subdued in Virginia last week. The behemoth 74-pound rockfish is expected to establish a new Virginia state record for striped bass. Carey Wolfe caught the huge fish while aboard the Bada Bing with Captain Tim Cannon while fishing off Cape Henry. Congratulations to all those involved in that remarkable rockfish catch! Fishing from Maine to New Jersey is increasingly heating up with each passing day. Striped bass are making their way up the coast and we have a report from Maine this week with some hot striper action. New York striper fishing on the flats and bays has been wide open. The Rhode Island area is waiting on the arrival of the squid which should happen any day. Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard striper fishing has been excellent as well.
