Can anyone recommend some good light tackle lures to throw for both schoolie striper and specks? I've been working the oyster bars and grass beds in the Piank' with soft baits (bass assassins, shad, soft grubs) and the the snapper blues have been eating me for lunch. Thanks.

switching to good ole fashion bucktails will cut down on your 'snapper' losses.[smile]
They will work fine for rockfish. I'll leave the spec advice to others.

1/4 oz bucktails with #7 hook with curly tail grub.

I think the 'curly tail grub' is what he meant when the blues were eating his lunch. Sure, they're cheap, but they're a pain in the butt to change every cast.[smile]

Add some crankbaits to the bucktail mix. Medium fast, noisy and flashy generally will draw a strike. As it gets colder, go slower.

Try a Rapala X-Trap.
Too bad there are more boats than fish in the Piankatank.
