Any suggestions on the most versatile rods/reels to use for trolling for fall rock in the Rapp. I am new to this. I saw one post on this board somewhere suggesting Penn Power Stick (6' or so I think) and Penn 330 GTI reels. I'm looking for opinions on gear!

I use the Penn Senator Trolling rods for wire line and also use the 330gti's. These have been a good combination for us and would recommend them to you. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shimano TLD-25s with a 5'6'-6'0 rod has worked well for us. The others above are good as well.

I second the 330 GTI by Penn. You can use smaller gear, but usually when you are trolling you have lots of company. You don't have a lot of room to fight a big old striper. I personally rig mine with 50lb mono. Tried the wire and didn't like it so it came off.

I use 330's and am entirely satisfied. I caught some 'hogs' during the spring and they handled them perfectly. Boaters World has had them on sale for $99 with matched rod. This is a super price.

Penn 330's are very popular and are great for rock. Check me out at fishontackle.com for more info. Boater's World at last check were $99 and mine are $100, but I order the ones from Penn with the removable plug that work great if you have pegged rod holders. I am in Montross VA every Saturday morning.

For the last 5 years I have also used Penn Senator Roller Rods & 330GTI's for my wire-line. They are great!

For Mono I use the 330 GTI's on 6'6' Barefoot Fishing Rods. The rods are not stocked by everyone, they are very light weight, handle fish from 10-50 lbs with ease and are well worth the $60 spent.

I don't use wire line any more for rockfish. I've had a few unfavorable experiences with it. Now I use the braided line like Spider Wire or Power Pro. An 80 pound braid would do just fine. I use the braids for my deep running lures and heavy weights. For my lighter stuff, I use 50 pound mono.

The Penn 330 is just fine for rockfish. I also like the lever drag level wind reels in the same class as the 330 too. For my rally big fish I have a Penn International 50 with 130 pound Spider Wire on it. You could crank in a Volks Wagen with that hummer.
