Looks like Saturday is my day, I plan to launch at the Narrows and depending on the weather I'll decide on the Chester, near Crabber 5 in Prospect Bay or if it's nicer than forecasted I'll run over to the Wye for the first time this year. Something about the Wye in the fall after all the summer crouds have left.... Just haven't heard anything great from over there yet this fall.

Don't expect the crowds on the Wye to leave. There are quite a few diehards that are still hitting it.

I'm hitting the South River on Sat. I might try to sneak out on Sunday if SWMBO doesn't have a fit. She keeps telling me I need to rest, but I tell her I will rest when the season is over [grin]. Dale and I are going to try Benedict on Monday. Good luck.

The passage of the front kept me in today. Damn. After reading Jerry's post and seeing the pictures of crabfest, I wish I had just gone. Its convinced me to bait the line and head out tomorrow evening regardless. I'll find a quiet, protected cove.

Wind looks (relatively) light this afternoon, no rain on the 600mi Doppler, my afternoon appt just cancelled so I'm scrambling to get my stuff together right now, looks like afternoon delight! Launching out of the Narrows, only bummer is it looks like slack high tide is 4:30PM, just have to hope I'm done by then I guess.

Glad to hear you got 'em Jerry. There's been crabs stacked on top of crabs in there for well over a month now. I'd love to somehow see the bottom of that river without any water in it! Every once in a while we'll see someone back at the ramp launching when we're coming out and they'll say 'you mean there's crabs in this water?'!!

Here's something you don't see every day.

Got to the Narrows at 2:30 yesterday and not a single trailer in the lot or another crabber on the water. Laid the line in 9' - 13' on the east side of Prospect bay where it opens up into EB. NE wind about 10-15 kts, High tide was at 4:30 but it didn't seem to matter. Running with the wind against the tide (what little there was) I packed a bushel with very nice crabs by 4:30 then culled till about 5:30 before wrapping it up. Kept all the large black ones in one bushel and all the mixed 6'ers in another, kept no females ended up 50/50 large black jumbo's vs 6ers. Get em while it's hot. No need to get up early, they're running full force.

WTG. Thanks for the report. I guess you didn't have a hard time getting your spot. Did you get out before the rain? Those are some nice looking Jimmies. I might have to break out my rain gear for tomorrow.

The clouds were dark but I didn't see any rain until the ride home. As it turned out I tried a new spot, I normally crab around Hog I or somewhere along the western shore of the Narrows but with the NE wind I decided to try where it was sheltered and had deep water. Saw one guy at the ramp who was pulling out when I was, he said he did well.
Tomorrow's looking kinda nasty, pick a window without rain if you can, I don't think the time of day matters much at this point.

Brooms Island Forecast for Sat. 10/07, RAIN, and more RAIN, winds @ 19 MPH during the daylight hours. Guess I'll go sit in the tree stand, roof overhead, side curtains, battery powered TV, propane heater for cooking Polish sausage. Take the camera, leave the bow at home, watch the animals do their thing, drink some homemade wine, take a nap, walk 100 yards back to the house at days end. Life is tough,[grin] T.

my uncle and i MIGHT get out on the wye sometime tomorrow....mid-morning. i'll be casting plugs between runs!! [grin][grin][grin]
we'll deal with the wind, but if it's raining and nasty when we go to leave his house, my uncle probably won't want to.....wind and rain....one or the other's not bad, but it sucks when you get 'em together.

Take advantage of the short lines and close by parking at Wye Landing caused by the nasty Wx report. Not too many weekends offer such conveniences there and elsewhere.

I know there are no crabs in the Miles, but I am going to perform more speriments for DNR Sun-Mon.
I was told to try to keep the larger black ones since they are supposed to have diseases that cause hi cholesterol and full bellies in humans.
So I heard anyway. I will comply however and due my duty to help my DNR.
You too should volunteer!

I had hoped to fish one day and crab the other this weekend but sat. isn't looking too good, might have to do a combo trip on sun. in E.B., Wye and Miles.
