Just wanted to get some opinions about the cold front going through and how the temp change and rain will affect the critters this weekend. Should we go Deep? Shallow?

A little deeper now,but try both.My experience in the past with trotlines is that in the Fall,as the water gets clearer, the crabs will see you and drop off before they get close enough to dip.You don't have that problem with traps.I've also noticed that after the first hard NW blow in early October up here, the crabs leave the western shore rivers. There may be a few left, but not many after that.

I'll be darned.I haven't read that book in around 30 yrs.I never noticed it.I thought Lester Lee did all his Crabbing on the Eastern Shore side?I remember him writing that he caught them til the snow flied.I haven't been out layely, but the com.Potters usually have atleast 6 strings covering the mouths of the rivers. After the first October blow, you'll see em disapear.I'd like to sling some traps in once or twice more.I only need 2-4 dz.and I'm happy.
