I am thinking about doing a charter this Sunday out of Hatteras.
Do most of the boats allow stand up fishing or must you fight from a chair?
Never did an offshore charter before, so I am a newbi at that.
Can anyone recommend a charter as well?
Thanks.

When I've done it there was a chair and stand up gear available. I you ran out of steam on stand-up you could clip into the chair.

Definetly the captains decision. I would call the captain before hand and ask him that question. Make sure you know where he stands before you leave the dock, period. Lots of good boats down that way. Jay on the Bite me has been crushing the tuna. I don't charter very often but his customers always look happy.

John,
Call John Canning, Jr. (aka Jersey) on the Reliance. www.reliancecharters.com
He has 3 chairs on the boat or you can do standup. Your call. We have fished with Jersey and he catches fish.

John,
Check out the Marlin Mania with Captain Jim Bowman. He is one of the best out of HI and will let you rig baits, set lines & stand up for Tuna. See my post from our most recent trip with him on the attached link.

We fish the Marlin Mania with Jim 2-3 times a year and always great results and have a blast!!!

I checked the above boats and everyone was booked for the day I needed. Went with the Nancy K.
Anyone have info on the boat? I was told the capt was an alright guy.

you should take a belt with you either way. Lots of captains "dont have them on board". Better to come prepared.
Charter the Sushi!! Oh wait - they are still in Stewart.
