Drove across Wednesday night from school to hopefully fish on Thursday (weather permitting) with my dad. Weather was "iffy" on Thursday morning, decided to try it and see. Left Pirates Cove at 5:45am headed to the 650 for some tunas. Passed through the inlet and we were immediately greeted by 3-5 footers every 5 or 6 seconds. Since it was just my dad and i we pushed on. Got to the stomping grounds and set out the spread--couldn't run too many lines because of the seas/wind. Trolled til mid morning with nothing...checking out all the charters with spreader bars out---we decided to put the "tangle machine" out. Less than 20 minutes 20lb yft in the box. Steady bites all afternoon, mostly on the spreader. One nice 40lb yft on a green squid chain. Ended the day with 4 yft 20-40lbs. and one small bailer. Great day with the "old man" on the water! Plenty of TUNA for tailgate this weekend for the ECU vs. Southern Miss game.
