I don't think you'll see to many reports this weekend. Atleast not out of OI.Good luck to those that try!! Think I'm gonna sit this one out.

Sure enough those wind guesses are starting to look nasty as is the strength of the cold front on the national map. My old stomping grounds in MI seem to get our weather 1-2 days early in the fall and they have gale warnings right now (40 kt winds and 6-10 swells on lake Michigan). Crap.

Crossing my fingers that it blows through fast and lets stuff settle down. I want to take my father out for tuna.

The wx to the north looks much better, they're calling for 2-4 ish from the Hudson to Baltimore. I'll be on a friends 42sf out of southern NJ so it looks I'll be out there Sat/Sun, (fingers crossed).

c-note

it says 2-4 out of OI now. Might be a shorter a$$ kickin. Jim I may have a spot on the Kat for Saturday I'll call you after a presentation I have this morning.

I'm still watching. The Va. Beach bouy has the waves at 4.3 feet and a dominate period of 6 seconds as of 8 AM Thursday. That's a little bumpy.

The intellicast wind model looks like a train wreck...but the Cape Henry to inshore forecast look like 5-10. I think it's a "toss up"...

Sure will be fun trying to make a decision tomorrow.

Tommy,

This weekend weather is tough for me to call. I respect your opinion, but I can't tell if your last two posts were serious or sarcastic. Do you think that either day will be pleasant or at the very least doable? We have a 3.5 hour drive to the boat so we want to make a good decision.

Thanks
Mike

TommyTuna

looks to me like the further north you go, closer to the surface high, the better it gets - hence the Hudson smartass comment.

Just look at the weather where you will be leaving from. the NWS is predicting a low of 48 degrees on saturday morning At Ocean city. for the temp to get this low the winds will have to be near dead calm considering the ocean all around OC in the low to mid 70's. then look at the marine forecast calling for east winds at 5 to 10 or 10 to 15 or whatever. any east wind off the ocean will not get a land temp that low. never trust the canyon forecast. for example, look at the De lightship right now when it supposed to be blowing real hard. the waves never broke 5 and are now down to the 3ish range. We're doing an overnighter sat / sun leaving IR inlet and heading to wilmington. Should be fine. Mark

Thanks, Glenn. we're keeping a close eye on the weather. We'll make a decision tomorrow night. If we go we plan to leave about 4:30 so we'll probably be about 30 minutes behind you, Kelly & Calvin. We'll be on 68 & 79.

Keith,

I had to make a decision tonight, so I'm out...I hope the weather co-ops for everyone making the trip. I'll wait for another day...it's a huge commitment of time and energy running from Richmond and I have a lot of other "stuff" I can be doing with the family.

GOOD LUCK! Burn em' up!

Glenn

ps - Cal, if you're reading this, I planned on calling you tomorrow in the am.

man...Grillo2 brings me up and Presistence2 brings me down... hopefully the distance between the ups and downs will be widespread[grin]

I'm in for now out of OI. They did well today down there.

Not looking good this morning. The bouy off of False Cape has the waves at 5.6 feet with a dominate period of 6 seconds. That was at 6:50 this morning. The forcast is calling for 3-5 seas tomorrow with NE winds.

Glenn, I think we'll chase the man in the brown suit.

Well darn what a beautiful weekend it was. Perfect days on the water with Dad, calm sunny seas and the occasional fish :)

Funny that the conditions ended up closest to what the "pros" said 5 days out!!

As Tommy says, mental masturbation passes the time until the next trip :)

Good work on the fish btw, Tommy - sounds like I need another lesson.
