Odds increase greatly when trolling just before dark & even more likely at first light. Mutipull larger size spreader bars are also a huge advantage. The area from the point and up to about the 650 is a great place to be at those times when the water & conditions are right. You can also chunk for them at these times as well if the current isnt to strong. Good luck.

It can sometimes be good to use heavier than normal skirts. Something like 3-4oz. A bigeye can push a good size preasure wake ahead of them and the heavier lure is less likely to be knocked out of the way than a light one.

Big spreader bars will work also. Early & late in the day seem to be the best times (besides nite). Bigeye like to stay deep like broadbills. Middle of the day bites aren't something you generally expect.

The Fleet pull Large Pink/Green/Rainbow spreader bars when they are around. I have only caught three myself with others two caught on boats of mine by anglers and had two caught while I was on charters.

The fish bit:

3 x Pink Spreader bars
1 x Horse Naked
1 x Large Bally-hoo B/W Islander
1 x Large Bally-hoo Pink/White Inslander
1 Seawitch with medium bally-hoo

If the water temp is right on the 26790 line between the 40600 & 40650 you will find them!

PS: Lot's of Luck really is what is needed.

I certainly cant qualify as an experienced bigeye angler, but I read an article not too long ago from up in NY. The captains up there said that a large plug (ie Marauder) about ten feet behind a big spreader bar is deadly( on a separate rod). I have never tried it, so it could be total BS, but just passing it on. Good luck. Let me know if it works.

fish early/late/night. fish over the 100. fish baits deep. Run away from the rod when it goes off, unless u like pain and torture

Good advice Tommy- We had a 230lb man laying on deck next to a similar sized bigeye. Couldn't tell which one had been gaffed.

50s or 80s. big baits. big skirts. heavier chin weights. etc.... get the bait a little deeper & heavier. tight spread. very tight. heavier leaders--175-300 lb mono.

HI:
So U want EYEBALLS?

50 fathoms is where I always start. never got one in less than that.
Trolling:
Pitch black morning 'till about 09:00 most days.
Late P.M. till Pitch dark night.
At least two squid bars. One off each corner. Black/Purple on one with a Zuccinni as a chase squid.
Black/Green or Bally color on the other with a Hawian flag chase squid.
HINT...HINT...HINT... If you get crazy, try sticking a Cylume in the chase squid. IT works.
I'll run 3, 9-11 inch "GM" TYPE lures. HERE the color really matters. Purple/Black or DarkGREEN/Medium Green. Other color work, but not as good as those just mentioned.
I'll run at least 2 Jets. THESE will catch about 50 % of your BIGEYES...aka...EYEBALLS. 7-9 inch size is just about perfect.
Colors......HHAAAHHHHH... Dark Blue/ Pink , ZUCCINNI , Black/Red are my mainstays. I'll run these back in the 2nd/3rd wake waves.......HINT...HINT...HINT... Put these in the MIDDLE of the wake wave, not on the shoulders.
Run a few 6 inch feathers intermixed, to attract the smaller fish.......THAT GET THOSE EYEBALLS UP INTO YOUR SPREAD.
When I was pinhooking, that was my starter spread. As conditions changed, so did my colors/lures.
