Sitting in my office and trying to make a decision about the Bahia tourny this weekend. Cold Cold Cold water everywhere.
Don't want to go all the way to the canyons for a shark.
Just my thoughts.

I love this tournament, but I can't see wetting a line until it warms up. I think the number of boats entering will be much less this year due to the cold water. In my honest opinion, If you have to run past the 50f line for a shark, it aint worth it. Looks like I'll be at Fish Tales waiting to see if we made the right decision not to fish the Mako mania. Saturday looks like a good day to fun fish anyway. Thinking about heading down to the lumpy bottom to find the first bft.

My thoughts exactly. We are going to make the decision today but I think we are going to scrap it. Their is just no water. on the other hand if we caught one we would probably win. Weather is supposed to be crap Friday. That just adds to the misery. I think we will be bagging it.

I will be out there on Sunday, but I am not entering the tourney. I just want to catch something with teeth & I don't care what it may be. If I happen upon a Blue or Mako, it will be a nice surprise. If I get into the dogs, out comes the light tackle for some fun.

Same boat as everyone else. We planned to fish it but with the cold water and non-existent shark bite I think we are gonna fun fish. Good luck if you enter!

Fishsmell - Good to see you are still around... I'm holding off until the first signs of BFT at lumpy. Hopefully it won't be more than a couple of weeks, but this water isn't looking good.
We'll have to plan a trip at some point, or else buddy up at the very least.

Good to see you too Mako22. I'm still 50 - 50 on the bahia tourny. Sounds like most people are going to pass. Its been a long winter and I'm itching to gaff a big mako.
I will fish this weekend, but likely not enter the tourny. I think most charters will be heading to the way way deep.
Lets plan that trip to the soon.

Most of the charter boats ARE going to fish it. Everyone I have spoke to still is. In my opinion, the bite may be a little slow, but the quality of fish will probably be good.
My feelings are that if 50 or so boats go out and shark fish, honestly shark fish, not gripe about cold water and switch to sea bassing, we will see some fish. The larger class fish always seem to come through in the cooler water, so some big ones may be around. Weather does look like it is going to play a part in some decisions.
To all that decide to enter, best of luck and be safe. To those that don't, remember you can't win anything if you don't play the game. I don't want to read any I would have won with the one we caught posts (wink wink, ha ha).

Headed to the Lumpy and Finger last Sunday. Water got colder as we went. 52.9F at the finger. Got swallowed up at the Lumpy by horndogs. 3 Bluefish for the day. Ocean seemed void of all life
