We used to have an account down at the ice plant at Teach's and that was super convenient and cheap. One trash can full and all coolers were set for the day. But that's gone and looking for an alternative to buying 8lb bags at 7-11. Fishing out of Thicket Lump in Wanchese beginning of week and Hatteras end of week and staying in Avon. Any suggestions??

Thanks Glenn. Yeah, I've gotten it there before and that's what I think we'll do later in the week when we are in Hatteras.

Are there any locations around Norfolk where you can get bulk ice?

On N King Street right off of Settler's Landing. It's right behind the Air and Space Museum. I think it's $5 for a 160 qt cooler and $10 for anything else bigger. Farm Fresh usuallu sales bags for 10 cents a pound.

Ok,
Here's my little secret. I head down to Hardee's a little after supper time, so every one's cleared out and the managers are sure that they wont run out of ice, I talk to the biggest ugliest girl in there I can find. Ask her how her evening is going, ask if they've been busy, and right before she thinks Im gonna ask for her phone number, I ask if I can get a cooler full of ice. This might not work for yall older guys, but Im still a young guy, and I seem to have a way with fat chicks![grin]

They normally just point to the ice machine and say go ahead, so I load up all of my coolers, which doesnt hurt them at all because the whole time Im scooping ice, it is steadily making more. After a while, everyone working in Hardees has begun to know me, and they ask, "goin fishin?" Best part, its free, besides the part of flirting with the cashier girl.

Fat coolers need lots of love too. Got tired of looking, going broke buying bags of ice.

Three years ago wound up buying a used under-the-counter air cooled ice machine, Ice-O-Matic UC-20, rated at 200 lbs of ice in 24 hrs. Makes just enough to fill the boxes in my boat. Well worth the initial $500 I paid for it.

Look around, there are a few ice machines for sale in local papers.

I've never asked them for lunch, I figured it may be pushing my luck.

This Hardee's is located in Chesapeake.

McDonalds used to hook me up, but some boy started working the cash register, and it felt weird asking him how his night was going.[grin]

Hate to be a chick busting in on this thread but does anyone have a number handy for Amory's? I know where it's at but was wanting to call and see how late I can stop by...

Or I could try the Mc Donalds w/ the boy cashier! [grin][wink][grin]

Ugh, well you had me at the 6' because I'm only 5'2"... But 120 lbs is kinda scrawny don't you think? Pale is okay but greasy hair and bad acne??? I may have to hold out and buy my ice from Amory's!!!

Becky,
Thats the key to the whole operation ice up! You go, flirt with the ugliest girl, or guy in your case, make him/her feel real good about her/his self, make them feel wanted, and just about when their ready to take the rest of the night off to spend time with you, drop the big white cooler on the counter and say with your nicest voice, do you think I could get a little bit of ice in my cooler? and BAM! you gottem trapped, their thinkin, should I say no and chance not getting a date, or say yes hoping surely I'm eating something other than this greasy mess tonight. Easy as takin candy from a baby. Later.
