My buddie who crabs every Sunday out of Oxford said the town was passing out flyers on vehicles saying starting 7/3 you will need a $50.00 permit to launch you're boat at the town ramp next to Schooner's Landing Restaurant. Talbot County sticker is also in force as far as we know. Lance

are you sure that the permit costs $50???

or is the fine $50 if you don't have the permit???

talbot's ramp sticker is $10, and if you don't have one the fine is $50.

if oxford is going to charge $50 to put a boat over, then that's just BS......that's just going to keep people away......people who patronize their town/stores/restaurants.

i go to bellevue anyway, but i sure hope you're wrong.....

I went to Bellevue last saturday. There were so many trucks and trailers, I couldn't even find a place to park. Not sure if Bellevue is the answer. [sad]
I hear they have started catching them in the Wye. Maybe consider trying the Wye Landing.[grin]
Speaking of priceless Dorchester county doesn't require a landing permit. So you can put over in Cambridge and crab the same water without paying a landing fee. [grin]

So are you saying to launch at Easton Point Marina its gonna cost me 50$ and I only have to walk a mile from where I can find a parking spot to get back to the boat, unbelieveable

It will keep people away, and make other ramps in the area more crowded, but I would expect other towns to follow suit. Maybe not at such a high rate, but if they think they can make a buck they certainly will go after it. After all, it's Maryland you are talking about....You know the saying. If the taxes don't gag ya, the fees certainly will.

What is the ramp into the Tred called? (the one on the road to St. Micheals, or right off it)...this isn't that ramp is it?

Off St. Micheals road, to the left, is the way to Bellview. If you think Easton point is a walk, wait till you try it at the Wye!!!

Isn't it ironic that Maryland law is based on the King's law. One of the first things I learned in Business Law. Talk about taxation. I thought that counties got grants from DNR to build and maintain these ramps. Aren't these grants funded from the fee we pay for licenses?

A person could make a good profit offering shuttle service to and from cars at the Wye.

No doubt about that RG. Someone should purchase a golf cart and shuttle people back and forth......for small fee of course [wink]
