Anyone know where in Pa i can get some traps? Dick's is out of em', any other ideas? I'd rather not pay an arm and leg but will if need be.

Also, can anyone explain why it seems the crabs in the Chesapeake are bigger on average than those say in Delaware? This always seems to be the case year after year.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I live in PA also and had a hard time finding any decent traps. If its not to far away you may want to try Eastern Marine in Newark DE. They carry the open tops (my favorite) or the standard foxy mate. The open tops are about $8 each.
As for crab size, I know everyone has their own theory but I think it has to be food supply, mainly 10 million tons of necks. Good luck.

It has more to do with water salinity than food supply.

We also treat our crabs better.[grin]

Crabs in Maryland have to pay sales tax, Crabs in Delaware don’t.
Therefore MD crabs have to earn more, which means they have to work harder, Causing Them to have to eat more , causing them to grow bigger!!

I have way to much free time.[grin]

Capt. Dale might be on to something. He clearly is thinking out of the box.
