Two boats / Traps and 1200 feet of line / Just over a bushel from 5:30 to 12:00

We worked for the ones we got yesterday...they weren't running as well as i had expected in Cox.

The traps seemed to outcatch the line.

Lots of boats crabbing the creek Sunday...three commercial guys near more and probably a dozen other guys running traps.

Jim,

How deep were ya?

Line was five-feet deep.

Traps were four- to seven-feet deep.

Thought about trying deeper...but too many other trappers in deeper channel edges.

Guys....8 ft has been the magic number for me. I've set in 3-6 and 10-16........8ft has been where they are.
Good luck.[smile]

I was one of those running 30 traps in 6-10 feet from 6am to 1pm yesterday and I had to really work for just over 3/4 of a bushel.

I pulled alot empty and traps with sub and barely legal crabs that went back. There were some bigger crabs but not as many as last weekend.

I was in a 23 Sea Hunt CC that had fishing rods in the T-Top rod holders in case you saw me out there.

Hey Dragon Tales...saw your boat. I was the guy running the 1200 foot line near where you set up your line of traps. We had a lot of company out there Sunday didn't we?

How'd you end up doing? Your traps were set deeper than my line/traps I think.

Dragon Tales - guess i missed your 3/4 bushel report in previous post.

Wonder if we both would have done better with an incoming tide?

Did you see how the three commercial guys were doing? Looked like they quit early and I didn't notice them netting many.

I arrived about 30 minutes later than I had planned and it certainly was as crowded as I figured it would be. It was harder than unsual trying to find a place to lay them. I split up my 30 traps in 2 lines that included a large gap for the comm. guy running diagonal across the creek just to fit them in and I still accidently dropped a trap on somebody's line. I don't know if he was there first and I just missed seeing his green and red float but he was cool and I apologized and I took those 2 and moved them toward the mouth.

I don't think the commercial guys were lighting the world on fire either but I saw them net a few here and there when we were making our way back to the beginning of our string.

I spoke with Catch 22 as I was leaving who came out with Neighbor Dave to crab the incoming and it sounded like they were doing fairly well, at least better than I had for the amount of time I had put in.

Dragon Tales... think i'll try the incoming next time.

I was the guy who moved your traps. Hard to tell where anyone's line was Saturday with so many boats/traps around....especially my line because even though my 2 new floats are large, they are painted orange...just like everyone elses that were crabbing the creek Sunday. Think I'll paint them white or mount some white flags on them so everyone can see them a little better.
