Shad in Richmond

Fished the James in Richmond Sunday afternoon from the boat ramp south approx 2 miles, painted numerous schools of shad, didn't get a bite until I switched to a flourescent green egg with a silver skirt fly then had fish on every 6-7 cast for about 1.5 hours. Plenty of other boats on the river, half were catfishing. River was high and murky. Son caught equally well using on ultra-light with shad darts, green head with chartruese body, white skirt
