Flying Fish

Dropped in at the point south of Fletcher's this afternoon, and what a difference a day makes. Started slow but I changed from a green plus a white fly to a different green and a red-and-yellow fly and soon it was a fish every 2-5 casts, one even hit a fly before I started the retrieve. About half on the green and half on the red fly, my guess is it had nothing to do with the change of flies, I think the fish just showed. But there was no experimental control and so I'll never know. When the sun went off the water I could catch the fish closer to the surface. When I started the wind was ovcer my right shoulder (bummer) but soon switched, making casting much easier for me. Outgoing tide the whole time. Most fish were nice bucks, up to 19" anyway.
For a while there was quite a rack of cormorants across the river right near the boathouse, then they left.
Spoke to Ray Fletcher on the phone today and Dan Ward in person, good to see and hear them. They think boats will be available to rent tomorrow or Wednesday.
