Ok this is the first installment of the invasion of Delaware! This year the festivities will be the weekend of June 11& 12th of June at Cape Henlopen state park in Lewes DE http://www.destateparks.com/chsp/chsp.htm the Henlopen complex off a wide variety of facilities and activities for the whole family http://www.destateparks.com/chsp/chspamen.asp

Camping is available, however the state of Delaware is building a big ass bridge in the campgrounds if Indian River Inlet campgrounds, and spaces will be at a premium at CHSP this year so book early. http://www.destateparks.com/chsp/fishcamp.asp

We will be wading the beach so you may want to bring your waders, or if the weather is nice you can wet wade.
This is a very kayak and canoe friendly area so bring them if you have them.

More coming up later!

Dave...that is the truth.

Ken, as I told you earlier....I have a wedding that weekend. I'm in for the rain date though. I'll send in a detailed fishing report of the area (hopefully very up to date!!) and I'll be there in spirit. Best of luck gentlemen...and ladyfish.[wink]

My wife and I are camping at Henlopen the following weekend, but I should be able to get away for one of the two days, just gotta leave after the festivites.

So count me in for a day (and evening), probably Saturday. Also with yak, but I'll wade if the wind ain't cooperating.

BTW, as of two weeks ago there weren't many campsites available, so RESERVE NOW if you are camping.

I've got family coming in that weekend for a week, so I'm pretty much shot.

Tony - What rude bastage is holding a June wedding? Just a note for all you that haven't gotten married yet - weddings are only appropriate between Jan 1 and Mar 15.

Anything else is a slap-in-the-face to your sportsman buddies.

My super liberal sister-in-law and my super putz brother-in-law to be. They probably think they are saving a fish from getting a hook in its jaw or something. My father-in-law and I are none to happy about the timing. I'll tell you the brutal details next time I see you. It'll be good for a laugh on the boat....and then DF can tell me to stop being so mean .....[wink]
There is a pond in the wedding area so all is not lost.

Actually, August is OK for weddings if you are getting married on Cape Cod or points north. :)

Since we have some scheduling conflicts, which of the 3 available weekends is the best for the most?

June 4th & 5th is before the kids get out of school. No moon.
June 11th & 12th, moon rising.
June 18th & 19th, full moon, kids out of school, fathers day weekend.

We're are not committed for any of them and can be flexible.

Can't do 6/4 -6/5...graduation, mandatory appearance.

6/11 - 6/12...can do a one-day trip, but won't stay overnight

6/18-6/19...my wife and I are camping there Thurs and Fri night but depart Saturday 6/18, so I'd probably miss the crew...but I'll be fishing my head off the 2 days before you arrive, without the weekend crowds, so [tongue]

Dave Sikorski

as far as I know I can make all 3!!!

The 6/4-6/5 works best for me, but I could probably make the 6/18-6/19 suggestion as well.

Unfortunately, I've got classes starting up the next weekend that will run the rest of the summer. But I have no problem missing a few (Just not the first)

The date will remain the same.

msusawyer
05-12-2005, 03:02 PM
Which is what? Last I remember you were asking what date worked for everyone.

Ladyfish
05-12-2005, 03:26 PM
The date is June 11th and 12th.

While we would have like to get Tony and a few others there, the 4th & 5th is the CCA Kent Narrows tourney and Dover's Nascar race! The 18th & 19th is Father's Day weekend and the kids are out of school. So the 11th & 12th are the best we got...

I called Henelopen on Saturday and they still have plenty of campsites. If someone wants to say they will register first...and then get the numbers of the available sites around them and post them...then the rest can register. There's a map on the DE State Parks website. Somebody volunteer to be the lead...please!

Pardon our silence; but, work for both of us has been a pita for the past couple of weeks. We have been trying to avoid work trips that would have put us each out of town over one or both of the proposed weekends! Dodged it; but, barely!

msusawyer

Since I was being soooo obnoxious about setting the date, I'll take point and get the reservation craze started.

I just checked the online reservation system for Henlopen and it says no non-water sites are available (the cheaper ones).

I've got a list of sites that are available Fri-Sat and Sat only and I highlighted them on a map. If a subscriber can email me (sawyer.davis@gmail.com) I'll send them the map to post here.

In fact, its probably time to start a new thread to coordinate this. Whoever emails me can start that. (I'm only one man)
