With the Po at or around flood stage this is the latest rain report:
FLOOD POTENTIAL OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC
445 AM EST THU MAR 31 2005
...HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING POSSIBLE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...
A LOW PRESSURE STORM WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN
STATES AND MOVE NORTHEAST TO THE MID ATLANTIC REGION. THE LOW IS
EXPECTED TO TRACK ACROSS WEST VIRGINIA...VIRGINIA...AND MARYLAND
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
PERIODS OF RAIN ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FRIDAY EVENING...POSSIBLY
HEAVY AT TIMES...AND CONTINUE OVERNIGHT. THE RAIN WILL DIMINISH ON
SATURDAY.
A LARGE SWATH OF ONE TO TWO INCH RAINFALL IS LIKELY WITH THIS STORM.
THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN FALLING ON ALREADY DAMP GROUND MAY CAUSE
SIGNIFICANT RIVER AND LOWLAND FLOODING PROBLEMS. FLASH FLOODING
COULD ALSO BE A PROBLEM...ESPECIALLY IF ANY THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP IN
ASSOCIATION WITH THIS SYSTEM.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR THE
LATEST HAZARDOUS WEATHER INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE. ADDITIONAL DETAILS CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET AT
WEATHER.GOV/BALTIMORE OR WEATHER.GOV/WASHINGTON.
Maybe we can get out in a few weeks if this is the last major rain for a while, but the outlook for Po and the Susky flats is not looking good in the near future![sad]

Yikes. The Potomac will be barely under 90-100k cfs by then. Not a good place to start with a heavy rain on top of wet soil.

A friend stopped by on the way to work this morning. He said the boathouse and the pier had floated all the way down to the little creek on the far right (downstream abviously) of the cove. He also added that he has never seen it so high.

I was just going to post with this, so I'll add it here:
"Low pressure system looks to track across Virginia/WV//DC/MD region late Friday night into Saturday morning. At this time GFS is fairly consistent if not a little further west with track...well west of a line of cho-dca-BWI. Nam is further east but not nearly as far
offshore as the run 24 hours ago.
Quantitative precipitation forecast thoughts...either model sltn track for Friday night and Sat looks to bring a considerable swath of 1-2 inch rainfall across the area in 12 hours time or less. Any convection would cause locally higher amounts. Still...this is a 4th period event at this time...so we plan to beef up the wording in ongoing esf and severe weather potential statement...and hold off on issuing Flood Watch. Day shift forecasters may need to go with Flood Watch if forecast remains on track."
Sounds like a 4WD will work on the river for a while. It's as if the rain we didn't get in the winter saved itself up for now.

Just drove past the Kennedy Center and the river about a foot shy of flooding rock Creek Parkway. There is a tremendous amount of trash and logs floating out there. I was supposed to take a boat from the Gangplank Marina to Annapolis tomorrow but I'm going to wait a week or so to let things clear out.

C'mon guys. The river is falling fast. And I have a feeling that the rain won't be as bad as predicted. I cannot fish for at least the next week and things always turn on when I can't fish.
Looks like the Potomac got a tiny break. The river flow graphs show that flooding didn't extend much upstream of Hagerstown. So hopefully Fletchers might be fishable within the week. The Monocacy caught hell though and that can take a long time to clear. On the other hand, the Susky is a basket case. That river will be wrecked for a week or more at the least.

I just walked across Chain Bridge, down to Fletchers, and up to the concrete pad N of Chain Bridge (to the path down to it, it was totally flooded). The river was not as bad as I thought it would be. Hopefully we will have dry weather this week and we can be fishing this weekend.

I hope we can fish soon too. But 7-10 days of totally dry weather in this town in April, I think that's wishful thinking.
I'm hoping that at least we'll se some clear water at Deer Creek soon.

FF, LOL. I know that it is not good, but I was expecting something more like 1996.
