Well, it's not fishing and it's certainly not in the Severn River area...but I figured you all would enjoy some pics from our latest grouse hunt in Western MD. I finally got my first grouse...it's been a long time coming....he came down with some great dog work by my buddy's brittany.

I got the bird up on a ridge thick with young cherry, greenbriar, ferns, and lichen covered rocks. Tricksea (the britt) pointed the bird right on the edge of a skidder trail, up against a boulder.

Grads TD. Never hunted W MD for thunderchiggens but got a few under my belt from up north. Grousin is best huntin there is in my opinion. See many doodles?

The resident doodles had already left so we didn't run into many. Weather permitting, they should be coming in pretty soon to both the eastern shore and the mountains.

Western MD has some tough covers...and the tougher they are, the more grouse there usually are...and the less chance you have of actually hitting one! Beautiful areas though...!

Wow, it looks like winter up there already! Makes me miss the old days at Frostburg, I killed my first grouse in the W MD mountains, too, great memories.
