We were all getting sick of reports from trollers cranking in 24-inch-plus fish, so when we got out this afternoon--as much as I hate to admit it--we had snuck some trolling gear on board. Craig and Chuck fished on the Bluffer while Randy and I ran the Skeeter, and basically we spent the afternoon going back and forth between trolling and jigging. Between both boats managed maybe half a dozen fish under 20 inches and were all around pretty depressed. The only exception was Chuck who kept hooking 12 inch white perch.

Night was falling and we were a few casts from heading in when Craig and I each hooked into nice fish. With a little net help from Randy, my fish measured 24 inches. Craig's fish (which was certainly the larger of the two) made a few fierce runs, then snapped his line. Tonight's catch brings my aggregate up to 71-3/4 inches.

Well done. I was shocked to see the trolling rods sticking out of the skeeter... looked like rabbit ears on a tv :D

I noticed you stayed pretty late... figured you must've gotten into 'em. Any luck on the shallow water bite afterwards?

It was good seeing you boys out there tonight. I've been on the look out for that Skeeter so it was good to see her in person.

I was getting real frustrated with the slow catch and had to leave you boys in search of something bigger. Funny how they turned on later. Way to stick it out. I would really like to hit these bigger fish on the jig or top water but I can't bring myself to abandon this trolling action knowing there are some nice size fish if you hit them at that right time.

Catch you later.

Nice fish! Chris has taken the lead in both categories:clapping2:. His third fish was not posted to the leaderboard because it was only 20 1/4 inches but it still puts him in the lead in the aggregate total category.

Here is the link to the updated leaderboard.

Chris,

Wait a second! I've been fishing in that boat! It only has two speeds - Stop and really fast! How the heck did you get that thing to go trolling speed? Did you have a plow anchor hanging off of the back!!:D

Actually, it takes two, 5-gallon buckets to slow her down enough...and, of course, a rebel bass flag!

Trolling? Man, you have sunken to a new low. I'm disappointed.
