Anyone know the formula or rule of thumb for setting the proper height of the motor/anti ventilation plate above the keel when rigging an outboard motor on an engine bracket? Seem's to me, it was so many inches above the keel for however many inches or distance from the transom to end of bracket? :helpsmilie:

If I remember correctly it was - for every 12" back from transom it should rise 1". I think it probably will vary abit with different degrees of deadrise.
Anyone else??

up 1" for every 12" back is general rule of thumb. depending on deadrise because a 30" setback on a seacraft (approx27*) will be about 3 1/2 inches up

Keep raising the motor(s) until the AV plate(s) are fully uncovered at WOT and you don't have excessive cavitation in tight fast turns.

Capt kid's formula is right on
works every time for us, but leave some room for adjustment
