First of all you say "your area"............where is that? you don't have much money.......who does:rolleyes: You should probably give the Lab rescue a call. Google that on the internet. I have 2 Labs and would not have anything else........good luck..........Gary

please use a lab rescue. There are so many beautiful labs that are getting "put down" all the time. You could save one and they make great pets.

Thousands of great labs in pounds, rescues and shelters that need good homes. Just took this phone pic of my girl Sally that would have been put down. All of mine have been black labs and black lab mixes;dog pound, found and ASPCA. Last one I got at age 10 and she lived completely healthy to age 18.

We rescued a Full Chocolate from a rescue down in Southern Maryland. She is GREAT! Really smart and loyal. Couldnt have found a better dog. My boss also rescued a Fox Red Lab from the Potomac Lab rescue. He is also a great dog. I would adopt from a rescue over any breeder any day. I would check the Potomac lab rescue if I were you. You can find some puppies on their.

Morgan is also my alarm clock some days! haha, its time to get up when she is standing on me, licking my face.

Thanks for the information guys...I really appreciate it. I have already put in an application for the Potomac Lab Rescue. I'm hoping to get one from there but also wanted to find a breeder somewhere on the Eastern shore of Md that wasn't going to charge me an arm and a leg for a dog in case the rescue didn't have any puppies.

Any good reputable lab breeder is going to cost you at least $500.00 if not more. You need to find the right breeder also. There are field labs, show labs, American and English labs. If you buy a field lab and don't hunt it, you will have problems. These dogs are bred for different reasons..........Gary

Todd

I know this is quite far from you but check out Untitled document (http://www.rbrandl.com/). We got our black lab (Koho) from them a couple of years ago. Just last week, we boarded Koho at Red Barn while we were on vacation. They have two litters on the way.

The owners, Chris and Sandy, are fantastic and their labs are incredible.

Debbie - Thansk for contacting the rescue. If they don't have any now, they will, trust me and they will let you know. There are many other places that have rescue puppies. Mine was a rescue puppy, only 7 weeks. Jim

ARF on Kent Island, in the old outlets, has 10 chesapeake bay ret. / lab mix puppies that will be ready for adoption soon, they are all chocolate. I just adopted a lab mix puppy from there and he is a great dog, 11 weeks old. Some of his siblings are still there and available now. You can view the puppies online on the arf website.

I definately recoment flyway retreivers... good dogs come from good people! We got our "Luke" there and he has been the best dog ever. He is pushing 100 lbs and was easy to train as a family pet. That said, w/ momma and pappa (140lbs. and athletic as hell) being bird dogs, he could have gone that way as well. Real strong swimmer...

Chestnut Manor farms In Centerville have great Field dogs . I have a 104 lb. female looks and runs like Flo Jo . Just remember you only get out what you put into a pup. I think if you are patient and persistent just about any dog can be great . Good luck

Got a 4 yr old black lab from Potomac Lab rescue and for 8 yrs he was the worlds best pet.Duffy was well trained and the couple we got him from had 3 big labs.A new baby forced them to adopt out 2 of them.We went to 3 of PLRs pet expos usually at pet marts.Arrive early and take your pick.Often there are dogs at the expos that you won't find on their site.Great organization.

I just want to thank everyone for their input and help. I have contacted the breeders listed as well as already gone to ARF. I really would like to adopt from a rescue. I have already filled out the applicatin, I hope they call me soon. If that doesn't work out, then I will pursue the breeders. I hope to have a companion for my family and my other lab some time soon.
Thanks again,
Debbi

As my grandmother would say, bless your heart Debbie. I so hope you get a rescue. You will be rewarded many times over.
