Hi Gang,
I wanted to throw the question out there, what would you consider the best tackle shops in Delaware and why?
Thanks

I hope it is not rude to piggy back in on this thread, but I too would like to have this information. Specifically, who carries fresh LY from Lewes to IRI?

I'm a big fan of Lewes Harbor Baut Shop. Good seledtion, and good people. Bill's has a good selection, but those guys are full of BS, and often have a poor attitude. Was there this morning, and the guy got mad because he had to go into the freezer for clams. Just would be better without the attitude. Cedar Creek has a little bait shop that has a good bait selection. Also Old Inlet is a good place too.

I like to go to Bill's. They are full of BS but that's part of fishing. Never had a attitude with me, sorry to hear that Posse. When I start fishing the fall striper run down there will say something to Bill.[sad]

I like the yellow shack (not even sure of the name of the bait shop) on Rt.9 just off Rt. 1 when you turn to go to Lewes. They have the best green crabs and often have live sand fleas when Bill's and Lewes Harbor do not. Guess you can tell I tog fish. They have an impressive amount of bait and tackle for the little shop that it is. Bill's would be my second choice for bait, but has more tackle selection.

Hey guys, There/s a new tackle shop on RT 9 past the yellow shack on the left side. I think the name of the place is Bob/s. He seems like a nice guy and the baits are nice.He always treated us ok. frogman

In addition to the place in Lewes harbor, which is excellent..
Up north Ocean Pro on rt. 13 near Townsend/Odessa is a nice shop for tackle.
For live bait you can't beat Smith's in Leipsic. Always have nice sized minnows, live ripe peelers, soft-shells, and eels. Decent supply of typical D-Bay rigs on hand also.

Henlopen Bait and Tackle, (Yellow Shack) in Lewes, if looking for fresh bait, local fishing knowledge, good prices, and true customer appreciation. If looking for quality gear, rods/reels/etc. Old Inlet has it. If I come up there and fish Lewes area, Henlopen Bait and Tackle is the best choice! It is a small shop, but seems to have the right stuff you are looking for, for a good days fishing. Old Inlet by far has more quantity, because he caters to all needs.

1st choice: Cape Henlopen B&T (Little Yellow Shack). Not the biggest place around but usually has whatever you need. Very convenient to stop at while trailering to the ramp. The guy that runs the place tells you where the bite is and what thier biting on.
2nd choice: Lewes Harbor Marina - Well stocked and freindly people. Place looks great after the renovations were done. Unfortunately not in the most convenient place to get bait/tackle when trailering to the ramp.
3rd choice: Bills Bait & Tackle - Well stocked but I agree with some of the others - The guy that runs the place, I guess "Bill", is rude. I feel always feel like I'm bothering the guy if I ask him any questions about the bite.

Old Inlet gets my vote. They have the best selection of terminal tackle and repair shop at the beach. For fly shop I like Marblehead in Greenville.

old inlet is way too expensive, I have seen them rip people off in there by ringing them up for more than they actually bought, they do repairs on reels which are very expensive.
Bills is my favorite, all of the people who work there are extremely nice, they are helpful and knowledgable

Hey Brandon,
Austin closed his business a year or so ago and sold his inventory to Terry Peach who started up "A Marblehead Fly Fisher" in Centreville, Delaware (a little farther north on 52 from where Austin's shop was). Terry is a good guy and has a terriffic inventory in his shop, much better than Austin had. For people like you and me who have a jones for fine fly tackle, his shop is great. His tying selection is real good also.
Terry has tying classes, guides in both fresh and salt, and supports the local clubs.
I believe that this is the only fly shop in Delaware so let's support it!

Upstate:Bait:Freshwater:Shooter's Supply
:Saltwater:Eastern Marine
:Tackle in General:Eastern
:Freshwater tackle:Shooters
:Saltwater Tackle:Ocean Pro
Downstate:1)Bill's, 2)R&R, 3)Cedar Creek
Bill at Bill's, John at Shooter's and Tom at Eastern have always been real good to me as has Randy at Ocean Pro. Never spent much time socializing at R&R or Cedar Creek but both places have treated me honestly about the bite and bait selections.

I have no problems with Bill's.
I have never been ripped off at Old Inlet.
I have had reels worked on at Old Inlet and my experience is that they were competent and priced fair.
