Most of you know I had to put my Lab down, and now I have a miserable, lonely Shepard. Was trying to go the " one dog route", but now Bailey has " limited time" with us because of a torn ACL in the hind quarter, a "floating bone chip" in the front quarter, and a ass issue that will not heal, and will require a lifetime of medication. Lucky US !!! For about 7 grand more, Bailey will " be fixed" , on top of the 5 grand already spent. Wife and I have decided to let nature run its course, and when Baileys " uncomfortable", we'll make that dreaded decision.

In the meantime, since Bailey can't chase a Frisbee or a ball, he needs a companion.

Guidelines... We are bigger dog people. It can't be a White Shepard, nor a Yellow Lab. Other than that, we're kinda open. "HEALTHY" would be my first concern. My pet bills are higher than my people bills.

Post here, and/or bmail me. Doesn't have to be right now, but sooner the better.

Thanks

Look at the Patomic Lab rescue. Great labs and most are healthy.
I was going to get my lab here but found one at the pet shop right next to my work.
He name is morgan and she is a chocolate lab! I love her and she rides around with me all the time!

You would be amazed at the great dogs at most animal control places.

A lot of good pets are being given away or abandoned due to people out of work. You know first hand what it costs just to feed a large dog - much less vet bills. Sad to say but some look at dogs as disposable.

Most animal control will gladly help you find the right type dog. They hate putting good animals down.

You'll get a great pet and the price is right .

SPCA and any of the adotion agencies will be glad to hook you up with a fine companion. I love having a pedigree with papers just as much as the next guy, but those places are filled with all kinds of dogs needing homes.

My wife and I have 3 Choc Lab Puppies available. They are a field/show cross.

Plus, She is the voluteer coordinator for lab rescue. She can help even if you don't want a Lab. She is REALLY good at matching people and lifestyles to the right dog

Her site is: Welcome to Crashtest Retrievers (http://crashtestretrievers.tripod.com/)

I 2nd 3rd & 4th the animal rescue. You can often times find purebread dogs too. Save a great dogs life and don't support the puppy mills :)

I got my Chocolate Lab from a rescue. Its called second Hope out of Southern MD. I was kinda lucky to get Morgan though. Pure breed. Its a lot of mixed dogs with them but I had my eyes on Morgan for a while and finally picked her up in Feb. She has been like my best friend. She is wild and full of energy!

Adopt is great and would be my first choice if not for hunting but being an avid waterfowl hunter/guide I went to Wildrose Kennels - Gentleman's Gundogs Since 1972 - British Labs (http://www.uklabs.com) You'll quickly learn that not all labs are created equal.

Brian - Save a pound dog. There are millions of great ones. All of mine have been rescues including Sally, my current black lab. Jim
