St. Petersburg and Clearwater, need help finding a place to fish

Hey guys, I am heading down to FLA with the Mrs. for a few days and was wondering if anyone has any advise for fishing gulf side near the St. Peterburg/Clearwater area. I will be staying near St. Pete Beach and was looking for someplace that I can access or a local guide to hire for a half/full day. I will have a car so I can travel, but dont want to travel across the state. Any info would be greatly appreciated otherwise I will have to sit on the beach for 5 days and I hate sand. Thanks

Don't know any guides but you can Google for some.
Fort Desoto has 2 piers Good fishin
Check out the Skyway pier .Very different you can still drive on it and park and fish out of the car. It is the old bridge on the south side an north side beside the new bridge at the mouth of Tampa bay. Not to far of a drive, The way I did that there is a big shopping out let mall across the bridge over in Ellenton so I took the wife there and left her there while I drove back to the Skyway Pier to fish and kept in contact on the cell phone.
Oh you and the Mrs. will have to go to the greek outlets up in Tarpon Springs. She'll love it. Good Greek restaraunts there. we even ate fried otcopus there.Oh and there are some fishin boats you can take out to the Gulf .

Hey Five pounds+ There's a head boat out of Passe Grille that goes into the Gulf. Take the day trip, the fish are bigger. Fort Desoto is a great place. Try about 300 yds east, towards the Skyway bridge, of the Bay beach swimming area. Wade out and toss live shrimp to open areas and you may be rewarded. Also under almost any bridge in the area all kinds of fish can be caught.

Johns Pass in St. Pete has Full day Headboat fishing as well as 24hr and 36 hr trips. For local guides and Info go to DOGHOUSE Tackle shop;The guys in there are very out of towner friendly and can get you hooked up with a captain that fishes for your desired species. Be sure you check regs on what is in Season before you book or you may find yourself catching grouper, Snook and Red snapper and having to throw them back.
