View Full Version : Range swap
Taking out an old range -- drop in that has stuff all the way to the wall -- and replacing it with a slide in -- that has nothing behind the burner surface. The toe kick is removable from the cabinets and not a problem, but;
Is there something available to fill in the gap in the countertop from the burner top to the wall and the splash rail or do I have to fabricate?? Thought about Starboard if I have to make something.
What say you of experience in this area??:helpsmilie:

BUD,
Most slide-ins come with a filler insert that screws to the top rear of the unit. You want steel, not starboard!
I THINK I have a black filler from a stainless unit I installed a couple of weeks ago. IF I didn't throw it away last week, do you want it? Where do you live?

Tony,
I'm in Poquoson on the peninsula of Newport News, Hampton. If you are near, I'd sure be interested in buying that filler unit, otherwise please give me a source.
Thanks a million for responding. What I was looking at was a great deal more involved.
If you are close, lunch is on me!!!

Bud,
I'm up in Spotsy, near Lake Anna. No charge for the part, I get them often, but getting it to you may be a problem. If your range is new, a filler came with it, probably taped to the back or inside. Check for that first.
If not, I probably won't be heading to your part of the bay until at least mid-april. Do you ever head up near Fredericksburg? Maybe I could mail it to you. Let me know.

Haven't done the job yet, but hopefully I am in good shape thanks to some Emails with Tony.
Thanks for your reply and if things don't go well, I'll be back to talk with you!:yes:

Heres the wrapup. The appliance store is ordering the exact filler and color to match my older range at no additional cost. :thumbup:
