When you get your bill for Jan. read the pamphlet about "PeakRewards". We are now being charged a surcharge based on usage, so that BGE can recover the cost of the program.

I made several phone calls to try to find out exactly what I'm paying for. After playing phone tag for about 2 days, it seems they are so busy, you have to leave a voice mail and they will get back to you. I finally spoke with someone who didn't have a "Because we said so". attitude and I was told that the P.S.C. "mandated" that they recover the cost of the program. I then asked, I am not in the program why do I have to pay for it. Her answer was "Because the P.S.C. mandated that they do it this way". Ok, I then asked what exactly is it I'm paying for. Her best guess was it could be the programmable thermostats that they are giving away with the program.

I changed my line of questioning.

I asked about the 50, 75, or 100 dollar credits on your June-sept. bills for joining. I was told that you get 10 dollars a month. I said that's only 40 bucks, How do you get the bigger credits? She didn't know. She then told me if I had any more question I would have to call the P.S.C.

It's not that the 38 cents or so will break me, I just want a straight answer. What is it I'm paying for and why am I paying for it.

Since when does the P.S.C tell BGE that they have to charge people more money? I call BS on that one.

Bge must bow at the mercy of the Martin O'malley appointted P.S.C.. Remember he was the one who was going to stop Bge. He didn't do anything because he can't. Pull up the sun archives on bge and the psc. They are a regulated utility, regulated by the psc. Did they tell bge to charge you .38$ i don't know.

Those on the PSC got healthy raises though!

I will say that we had some issues with them "over estimating" their bills to us. see here http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/chesapeake-angler-original-board-maryland-angler/252055-bge-dec-billing.html

I was under the impression the utility (BGE) has to present their case to the PSC to increase residential customers fees and PSC approves the charge or not. Also when a matter comes up in front of the PSC downtown it passes unless someone is there to object. Seems like most things BGE present may go through without people knowing until it's too late.

BGE can't charge anything without PSC approval. And the Office of People's Counsel watches everything every Maryland utility does.

I looked @ the project to see if the savings were worth it have a problem with "the man" regulating my heat/cold. The higher savings only come out with higher usage. SO where the hell is the savings. The bill is already over inflated. The only way to beat these knuckle heads is to not use their product. Until a People's Council is made of People and not Dem/Rep/Socialist/Commie/Freestate etc... appointed flunkies (hrumph hrumph we have to protect our phoney baloney jobs men) Big power is gonna put out a plan and it is gonna get rubber stamped one way or the other Can't run a goverment without power (Unless you want the goverment to seize direct control on the utility??)

What they didn't explain to you is the PSC only "mandates" the rate changes AFTER Bge thinks them up and submits them to the PSC for "approval" the PSC does not sit around thinking up rate increases for the public utilities, it is the utilities that request a rate increase
did you ask BGE why they submitted this rate to the PSC?
