Looking to do some trout fishing this weekend in the mountains of Virginia. I live in Virginia Beach but would travel up to 4 hours NW. Anyone know of any river that holds trout stocked or not/delayed harvest or not. Not looking to keep any or just a few. Really just want a nice place to chill in the mountains. Anyone?

Maybe check out this website and/or give these guys a call. They run a fly shop here in Charlottesville.

Cripple Creek is the best bet IMO.

Check out this site, should get you started.

Good luck!

Well it's been 19 degrees the last two mornings, so bring some lead to break thru the ice. also it has been very very dry in my area of Pendelton county, WV,,but I'm only minutes from Rockingham,Bath,Highland, so I'm pretty sure the streams will be dry there as well

i just fished Jackson river last weekend. The river is low, but still fishable. I caught 5 the first day on a powerbait then joe fly combo. The next day with my quota filled switched over to the fly rod, got 4 more with nymphs. Water was clear as can be but the trout were there. Great river if you are looking for one, the place is called Hidden Valley.
