A couple called my wife and I and asked if we would carry them to the lake on Saturday night. I struggled to get enough bait but finally got 3 dozen large bluegill and picked them up on the way to the lake. It was the first time going for the both of them. We had a club tournament that night but we decided not to fish the tournament since it was there first go at it. We should have fished the tournament. The first flathead the girl ever caught happended to go over 45 lbs. Five minutes later I ended catching one right at 40 lbs. We would have had our 2 fish limit by 8 pm of 85 lbs and would have had it locked up from there. Anyway, we kept on fishing and ended up catching 4 more flatheads 2 more of which were around 30 lbs. The big tourment fish was a 51 lb blue but we would have had the 2 fish limit and big flathead. Oh well, they enjoyed their first trip and now I think the guy that went with us is looking for a boat.
Buggs Island Fall bite is on fire, even with the full moon which I usually hate. Hope to get back down after them again thurs night. Will post any report if I get to go.

Sounds like you guys had a good trip. The flathead bite has been off the last couple weeks for us anyway, on High Rock. We went to Norman Fri. night and caught 3 blues over 20 and had two more nice ones to come unhitched. One slamed it so hard I had trouble getting my rod out of the holder and when I finally did, it jerked the rod out of my hand and into the lake. For some reason it didn't go anywhere after it pulled my rod in and the rod was slowly sinking. after it got down about 2 feet I managed to hurl myself over the rod holers and grab it. I have a big bruse on my stomach to show for it. Someone needs to make collapsable rod holders for big dummies like me. My santee holders are 1/2" and fairly strong but me and my big santa belly bent it. Keep the reports comming sounds like it's on up your way.
