I'm thinking that I need to change my racor fuel/water filter. Never done this before and was wanting to know if the new filter comes with the bowl on the bottom or do I need to take the one off I have now.
This is what is going on. Last week I noticed that my fuel bulb was callapsing and after looking at it I notice that it was a little dry rotted,,, so I changed it out with a new one. Today on the water I notice that it too is callapsing????? I'm thinking that since my Racor filter is 1 yrs. old and the fact that I had about 25 to 30 gals. in it last month,,,that the filter could be glogged due to crap in the tank???? What do you think? The motor is running fine, but I'm guessing it's not getting the amount of fuel it wants due to the filter being clogged???
If this guess is currect, how hard is it to change out the Racor Fuel/Water sep. filter?

Thanks in advance...... Standing by for answers from you guys before I jump on this one.....

Is the filter between your tank and your bulb or between the bulb and the motor.

If it is the former then my money would be on the filter. If it is the latter then you might have something wrong between your tank and your bulb. Maybe the pick up tube is clogged.

It's located before the bulb.

Time to change the filter. . .

BTW it is a good practice to change the filter once a year. One problem is that IF any water collects in the filter it can settle into one spot and cause it to rust through the case.

To answer your original question. I am pretty sure that you can buy one without the bowl.

I found out that the filter is a Suzuki fuel water sep. good to 10 microns. How do the Suzuki brand compare to the Racors? When I do replace this filter I found out that ONLY a Suzuki filter will fit the mount that is screws into due to the threads. So if I want the best for my Suzuki 250 4 stroke, should I stay with the Suzuki brand or go Racor?

Racor may or may not fit. Contact Jimmy or Doug Whalen at Whalen Marine. They're tops when it comes to great customer service for Suzuki. They'll gladly speak to you.

Yea, you're dead on,,,, on that! I've gone to them many times in the past and I've NEVER had better service then Mr. Whalen and his son Jimmy. Went there on the way home from work and they didn't have just the element for sale, so Jimmy didn't think twice about taking a filter off of a brand new filter assem. off the rack and hooked me up with a filter. Apple doesn't fall far at all when it comes to those two.....
