I have a 1999 25hp Mercury Outboard - Manual/Tiller model - 2 stroke.
On Sunday I left the ramp with the motor running "rough", just sounded noiser then normal and was not idleing smooth. Later in the day when I shifted into neutral the motor started to rev up high which is not normal. I figured I better head back home. On the way home at full speed, the motor seemed to cut out, almost like it was running one one cylinder, just sounded like the power was cut in half. Shortly after it cut out completely.
I waited 5 minutes and tried to start it again. Gave it 3 pulls and nothing. On the 4th pull it just seized up compeletly and I could not turn the fly wheel at all.
Luckily I had a friend close by and got a tow into port. Looked at it last night and I still can't get the fly wheel to turn at all.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks.
