Went on the Potomac for the first time Saturday night. Tried to find a spot to catch perch but caught a nice eel to start. Decided to cut him up right there and start fishing for cats and perch at the same time. About 10 minutes later, I caught a little 10 pound catfish followed shortly by a 3 foot long gar. Moved a little down river and finally got into a bunch of perch. Moved about 100 ft and dropped a few overboard. After 20 minutes one of my rods started to bend and line stripped off. After a good fight, I finally landed a nice 30 pound kitty. Wind couldn't decide to blow or not all night. Made for night running on an unfarmiliar river a long trip. I finally used a sabiki rig for the first time. Caught perch 3, 4 and even 5 at a time! I WILL be using that again! Ended up catching 2 more 10 pound catfish and called it a night.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you can't legally have that many hooks on one rig. For a sabiki rig you need to cut off all but two hooks.

"IN TIDAL WATERS OF THE STATE IT IS UNLAWFUL:

4. to use more than two (2) hooks or two (2) sets of hooks for each rod or line."

Also if you plan to use White perch for bait they need to be 6 inches to keep.

And you can not cut them up since a cut perch can not be measured.

Potomac has a ton of different rules.
