well just to make sure i was not missing anything i went to little elk riv. daybreak till 9:30 am . 28 traps 10 jimmies ,3 big sooks that went back and a few shorts maybe 24 or so. there were as many crabbers out as i have ever seen it looked like the wye river ! traps and trot lines running side by side on top of each other. after i put out traps ,folks came and layed lines [one boat had 2 lines } along side us maybe 25 ft on one side and 75ft on other and than more folks with traps started to seed this area as well. we pulled traps and headed south toward canal and it was no better. Also saw a boat running a pat. dipper out there .! thats a first for me to see on the elk. vary slow trip.
At about 8:30 am as i i was getting to start of traps guy on dock yells for me to come over he has just woke up and his boat is gone. says it's a red boat. i say we saw nothing but let me take a wide swing on riv. and look. he was up by triton boats, i spot a red boat down by Elkmore. go back put dude on boat and off we go. yes it's his boat still in good shape and i let him on it and it starts right up. not stolen ,everything there plus mooring ball and line. turns out he just had a little mushroom anchor on mooring ball and tide took it. luck it was swung in to pilings and snaged dragging ancchor. did not seem to have struck anyone i guess.we just went back to checking empty traps .well better check on my lunch,see if they steamed enough. ELK & BOH still to early or i may be a poor crabber whatever.
