Took the tin boat for a long ride today. Left the South River bridge area around nine and headed to the bay. Left the river and went towards the West River. Dropped a hook and caught nothing but 5 to 6 in corkers with an occassional small spot. Left the area and headed to the lighthouse, caught some really nice jumbo spot in 20 ft of water along with some 7 in corkers. left here and went to the rocks at Thomas Pt. and proceeded to cat small stripers for a few minutes. I then returned to the river and headed to Gingerville Creek and caught some really nice white perch on Jim's (Marty's) famous Beetle Spinners.
It was a really beautiful morning on the bay. However, there were very few fishing boats out there. I guess Bill Burton was correct in the Capital last night. Not many are fishing. As visibility was almost as good as it gets you could see for miles and miles. Believe me, I saw no charter boats, a handful of commercial crabbers, and probably less then 10 sport fishing boats out there. The radio was silent except for requests for the water taxi in the harbor. Never heard any tidalfishers at all and received no answers to my calls. On my way in there was a boat at marker 6 and two at marker 5. I know the one was trying for spot to live line. I suspect the other were too.
