Someone must of declared war on crabs in the gunpowder, because there were over a 100 boats there this morning, and I'm not kidding you I had to zig zag all over from the trap bouys.
It was pretty comical at the ramp also, I think everyone who owns a boat must take a course on how to launch and reload.
I'll be fishing a bass tourny tomorrow out of dundee, so I'll probally drive past a FEW of you fellows, good luck crabing tom.

Easily 100 boats and most were using traps out at the mouth and max pt. 500 plus floats out there, I never saw such a thing. Oh yeah most folks left with less then 1/2 bushel, it's slow out there. It's going to be nuts sat morning.

Wasn't any better this evening. Took the kids out of Dundee to catch a few perch and couldn't count the number of boats. It was the Jon Boat Armada.

I live on the street that takes you to Mariner Pt. Park and the crabbers were rolling down the street at 4:00am in the morning. I took a ride down to the park and the lot was full and boat trailers were parked on grass spots or the overflow was on Kearney Drive. The park was crazy this Saturday thats for sure.
Maybe I'll start a road side business for the crabbers rolling down my street, selling chicken necks, coffee and donuts. How about it??? :D

Contribute yes, Hurt I do not think so. Commercial crabbers are out there from start of season till end of season. Unlimited bushels, 6 days a week. Average rec 1-2 times a month May to September. With line or trap limit, 2 bushel max. One commercial is taken more then 50 recs in a season.

I cant believe no new reports from today, I guess not many people went out, LOL. If there were 3 fters out there I hate to have seen how crowded those spots out of the wind were. The Gunpowder can be very miserable when the waves are up.

I am a rec crabber and rec crabbers have to remember one thing, Commercial crabbers most of the time depend on their harvest as part of their income! I thought the rec regulations were 1 Bushel this year? Am I mistaken? I have never had a commercial crabber in the area I am crabbing that has taken so many crabs that I couldn't get enough to take home and have a gathering! If I didn't get them, It was my fault! To all rec crabbers, how much do you pay for a license a year and do you abide by the law set for rec crabbing??? There is a limit of commercial licenses available, there is no limit that I know of for rec crabbers. Where is the real problem?
Just my opinion! Not worth much I know!

Better yet, sell crabs. I bet you'd sell out every weekend, to yo-yos who just couldn't catch enough, for one reason or another.

Steve, how have you been, fine I hope, I came in 3rd today on the non boater side, got 160 bucks back out of it,34 boats in the tourny, 13 lbs took boater, 11 lbs took nonboater,
I saw 1 crabber dipping alot at the mouth of seneca river, but with the rough water most boats were trapped behind maxwell, and the water was really muddy from runoff and waves.
Hook up with a southern crabber and sell his catch in front of the house, you could make a small fortune.

is anyone doing any good with trot lines? We havn`t had that much luck so far, it`s like they feel the temp difference and drop off. Do you think playing the tides is important or just go early no matter what. I went to the bush 2 hrs. before high tide and caught 6 crabs.

The guys dipping that I see are using snoods.
Hope this helps.
I just ordered 20 traps and a snood line, so I have a back up plan!

Hey Bill,
Good to talk to you again and nice to see you placed in the $$,way to go!:clapping2:
Did you get'um out of Middle river?
Oh yeah, had to smile when I seen Bob Cherry only caught a couple 12 in. fish.:D
Don't know if I've ever told you but in the late 80's,myself and my best friend and a few
good buddies formed "the Tide Runners" in the southern region.
We let Cherry join our club the next year as a non-boater and most of us regretted it by
the following year.
My son and myself left the club in '92 and fished ABA,and local $$ TX's in upper bay area.
Bob was one of reasons we parted ways,I think all the charter members were out of club
by '92/'93 but it was fun for a few years.
My health has kept me off the water for about 3yrs. now and it's hard to deal with it
sometimes when I watch my son pullin' out the Champion and going to the park ramps.
Good Fishin'...Big Steve :fishing2:
