I have a friend who made me an offer for one of my boats. It is a Cobia 22 CC w/200 merc outboard. The boat and motor are 1987 models. I will be honest, the hull is in good condition, the inside is in fair condition (probably within a year or two of needing the wood under the floor replaced from right before the center console back). The helm last year got a stripped spot in the gear. I bought a new steering cable kit for about $200 last year but as of yet have not installed it. The power trim....I replaced the trim motor (another $200) last year, but it did not fix the problem. Strange thing is if you use one of those jumpstart box things and hook directly to the selenoids, it works as it should. Even tried bypassing the switch to no avail. The trailer is usable. It also has a bimini top, and fish finder. At what dollar amount would you be happy with getting for something like this? I looked it up on NADA's website and would go with the Low retail value because i think it's fair, but I am hesitant to let it go for what he offered. Any advice??

Here are the two options. Sell it for whatever you can get for it. Or let it rot in your driveway. You will have to decide if your pride is worth more than the offer.

I agree. I think low retail would be a pretty high price for a boat in almost immediate need of hull work and repowering.

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to make it my fall project. It has sentimental value to it. I bought it from my father about 4 years ago, and he passed away 2 years ago this august, I think that is more of the reason I don;t want to let it go.

An important piece of info you left out of your original post. Well, that changes everything. Good luck.
