Just bought a 06 Mako 284 which has a 9'-10" beam. She is a wide one and i recall some talk about towing restrictions (up to 96" trailer width). Does anyone know where i can find some info on this restriction and what i need to do to comply? Permit or other??

I will be towing between Kent Island MD and OC MD on rt 50 and the last thing i want is the MSP on my tail for a tow restriction violation.

Any help would be much appreciated!

You can find the regulations on line at the MD MVA site.

Maryland Trailer - DMV.ORG (http://search.dmv.org/dmv/maryland/trailer)

My recollection is a wide permit is required for load width in excess of 96"; can't recall how long it's good for, but I think it's only a few months.

WildeOne,

I suggest you contact the SHA hauling permits office. MDSHA: Hauling Permit Information (http://www.sha.state.md.us/BusinessWithSHA/trucking/oots/cvo/otr_mcd.asp)

They will have the answers for you. I think the max width for boat trailers was changed from 96" to 102", but I could be wrong.
