electronics suggestions

I fish inland lakes and coastal waters out to about 3 miles. I have a 19 ft skiff in need of some new electronics, ff and gps. I was looking at the garmin gpsmap 420s and the lowrance lms 522c. any suggestions would be appreciated. I would rather not spend $1000....

I personally prefer the Garmin due to the plotter being better. To me a mark is a mark. However the Lowrance has a little nicer fish finder.
