Chatlee Boat and Marine in Sanford, NC. Wonderful people as compared to the jerks at Ed's.

They custom build them at Southport NC, but they may do that anywhere you buy one. I started to get one when I bought my Lund Jon Boat but I was concerned with the up-keep on keeping them clean and such.

Ed's has a great selection but sales folks and customer service is the worst I've ever seen. Craigslist is great that's where I got my skiff. Absolutely love the boat.

I had a used one I was going to get from Chatlees but some guy came in after hours and bought it.
A couple I'm looking at on Craiglist as well.

I can't handle the ride on a Carolina Skiff. Slightest bit of chop and they will rattle your fillings out.

Call Capn Hugh for the lowdown on a skiff.

Im feelin' spunky tonight !

age difference martineta thats your problem buddy, that's all............

without a doubt Ed's Marine BUT........I wouldn't have em change my oil. Jerks is an understatement and the worst part is THEY know it. Good luck. A great cattin' boat. Just look at Capn Hugh aka Chocolate Donut aka "good ole boy".::yawn:

You're right on Target Joe, A little past middle age and this old back isn't worth a hoot. But I ain't dead yet! I do prefer a hull with a V though!

EDs by far is the cheapest, as long as you are not looking for customer services. That doesnt even exist in their world.

After talking with everybody, weighing options, searching for used boats, etc. I just placed an order with Chatlee's yesterday for a 2009 1965DLX w/70hp Suz 4-stroke (2008 price). I found you will get more value for your money out of these folks than anybody.
I did look at Ed's but never planned buying anything from these guys. You get a bare bones ride from them w/a undersized motor and a cheap trailer. Once you start to set the boat up the way it should be they become the most expensive.
The used one's I looked at were for the more part Ed's boats folks were trying to dump.
I should get the boat in a couple of weeks and will try it out down at HI as well as some spots I used to catfish between Aylett and Walkerton that I can't reach with the Key West.
Can't wait.
Thanks for the input.

Picked it up yesterday - carolinaskiffowner.com (http://www.carolinaskiffowner.com/showthread.php?t=3677)

Here's a link with some pics of the boat I ended up getting.
Have used it several times down in the sound at Hatteras and am extremely satisfied to say the least.

Ed's is the least expensive,But if you're sensitive and want to pay extra for hospitality like some of the people on this site, you can pay more for the same boat and get a smile for your money. How much a smile is worth to you...is up to you. It's not worth anything to me.I didn'y marry them..I just bought a few boats there.

Chop gives you about 6 mph on the top end. When you run it a ground it will always sit flat. If you get Fat Boy1 & Fat Boy2 in the same boat it will only lean to Fat Boy 2's side about a 1/2 inch. Great boat.

The boat I bought from Chatlee's would have been more expensive at Ed's... That's why I bought it at Chatlee's. The folks at Ed's were nice enough to deal with but when I started adding items to the package (the right size motor, a decent trailer, hatch covers, etc..) Ed's was more expensive than the 5 dealers I talked with.

Triumph has a new skiff out that's pretty sweet. Seen one at Adams & Durvin in their showroom. Comes with Honda outboard. If I had the dough, it would have been mine.
