Made my first offshore trip this year and could not have asked for better weather conditions. We finally departed lynnhaven around 5 am with Southercrush (Patrick), Danny and myself onboard. We ran straight to the cigar in the thickest fog I have ever seen. We ended up trolling mostly SE of the cigar in 600 to 1000ft of water. Found a lot of grass but nothing had formed up into a weedline. We finally came into a huge pod of 2-tones and finally hooked up on a yellowfin about 40lbs. Trolled with the dolphins for another hour but could never get another hit. Called it a day around 3:30 and headed in to gentle following sea.
I did have some thing hit and take my #16 planer. This was my first attempt at using my new planer rod and bridle setup.
Also I want to Thank Dolph for buddy boating up with us. Sorry we couldn't get you over to where we hooked up. Definately next time.
