Based on the reports from Friday we headed toward the 150 Line planning to troll south. When we got there started trolling east looking for a change in water temp. At about 140 Fathoms saw a goup of 30 or more Tuna Birds sitting on the water. Turned towards them and just before we reached them 4 rods went down. During the chinese fire drill (there were just two of us on the boat) we managed to break two off, one spit the hook and we got the last one on the boat. Nice 40-45 pound yellowfin.
Turned back towards where we got covered up and saw a large group of two tones so we decided to parallel them on the way back to the mark. As soon as we approached the flat line went down and we boated a twin to the first fish. By this time we had moved a bit southeast of our first mark so we began to set the spread back out. Before I could get all the lines in the spreader bar on the short rigger went down. By the way he took line I thought it was a better fish but when we got him to the boat he matched the other two. All of this took place by 8:30 AM and then nothing. We worked the area for the rest of the day with hundreds of two-tones. Did see a 15 or more foot HammerHead crusing the surface.
Over all the reports on the radio sounded spotty. Very few Tuna, some Dolphin, a couple of Whites. I did hear a report of a Blue free jumping in the area.
