does anyone know how good the lake fishing is in late June? Any help would be appreciated.

Which lake? We lake fish every weekend somewhere in this area, but there isn't a lake directly IN Asheville. There are several within a 1-2 hour drive...if you can let me know which lake, I can probably help you out.
