I've never fished offshore outside of Florida & the Bahamas, but plan on bringing my boat up and staying at Pirates Cove towards end of May for a week.

Any recommendations in terms of:
1) specific species of fish to go after(have heard YFT, Dolphin, Wahoo are hot that time of year in NC)?
2) specific locations(GPS coordinates) to run to from OI?
3) specific types/colors of lures from the usual?

Particularly interested in any tricks to go after YFT since we don't tend to catch too many of the 30+ pounders down South.

Thanks!

best thing to do is follow the fleet...that being said...prolly fishing the point....blue and white is never a bad color combo...most of the tunas are caught on simple sea witch combo with ballyhoo's and spreader (squid) bars... Islanders /hoo's are always good...

go to tw's in nags head and talk to nathan., if you want to learn more about spreader bar...he will try to tell you the only way to fish for them is jigging....haha.......just tell him yah yah and get him to make you a spreader bar...
also might be worth seeing if you can take a pirates cove mate up to the bar (mo's) and buy him a few beers and pump him for info....
thats what i would do...
