I will be coming down to the OBX in late July and early Aug for a couple of weeks. I am bringing my boat and I would like to do some wreck fishing. Can anyone reccommend a good web site or gps #'s for some wrecks to fish. Also what kind fishing is hot that time of year? I have a 23 footer so I don't mind going off shore a ways if needed. I wanna fish not ride around.
Thanks in advance for your help :fishing2:

Go to Hatteras for Dolphin, should be plenty of bailers on the weed lines.

You can go to jim baugh outdoors. Jim has a list of GPS numbers for Virginia wrecks and NC wrecks. All the numbers you need.

its hard to get numbers to wrecks that hold fish consistently because everyone numbers are essentially secret....there are artificial wrecks and some on charts that hold fish but are often fished heavily for this reason. You are probably better off going down to hatteras like they said and fishing for bailer dolphins then going wahoo fishing as the wahoo bite really starts to heat up in Hatteras during the month of August....
if you really want bottom fish....book the miss hatteras and sperg will put u in the meat....u'll spend way less money than the fuel you ran all over the place with looking for wrecks and catch way more fish....its a super fun trip with a super first class captain and crew...
cheers

those numbers are 90 percent loran c conversions and arent worth a damn unless u like doing circles for 1 nm radius. id second careys recommendation and hit the miss hatteras or better yet spend a grand with patrick caton next door on the little clam Little Clam Sportfishing Cape Hatteras Outer Banks North Carolina Oregon Inlet Fishing Charters (http://www.littleclam.com) - he will load u to the gunnels with grouper/tilefish/seabass/snapper/triggers etc.. if u have loran u can get dive books with good #s - id suggest anything gary gentile wrote for some good toilet material.

yah patrick is da man......i've had tons of awesome days with him....check out Odens Dock - Breakwater Island Resort - Hatteras, NC (http://www.odensdock.com) second picture in the slide show....MONSTER RED SNAPPERS BABY....if you dont like crowds....and don't mind forking the few extra bucks....he will do everything he possibly can to catch you fish....
do you get down ther a lot gus???

patrick is definitely the man. i have fished with him once (jan 4 this year- i had 3 papers, everyone on the boat had a paper) . my fishin buddy jack (meoff on board) goes with him prolly a dozen times or more a year and is buddies with rick/pat. they have caught some serious grouper (we caught some nice snowies when i went) and i think they had like a 27 lb american red which is ridiculous nc state record??. i will be down there soon - u live that way? i am planning on spending some serious time that way this year. meoff brings his boat down there and he and pat fish some holes farther south for monster (40 plus lb) gags. i think it may be the only fishery better than here in vb.

yah man...i went to high school with patrick so we are pretty good buddies...i live in kdh and fish down there close to once a week (mostly with sperg. cuz of $)....really gotten into butterfly jigging...you just catch anything and everything on them....especially wreck fishing...me and my pops have 20ft twin vee and fish Oregon inlet tons inshore...sure can't wait to get out of exams next week and finally do the saltwater fishing i was born to do....ahha...if your every looking for someone to throw gas $ in holllar.....

10-4 will keep that in mind perhaps we can connect. my bud is really into bf jigging too thats all he does anymore (di hrd on nc waterman board) - i am looking at getting a setup to play with here soon. tight lines.
We just got the "papers" in the mail this week from fishing with Patrick last Memorial Day weekend (with the meoffs) and again in June. 3 grouper citations..all over 40. Now I've got to go get some more frames and get those papers up on the wall with the rest of them. Sure are nice to look at when we are sitting up here in the mountains wishing we were fishing with Patrick.

We got ours last week too! I am going to get ANOTHER on the 10th of May!! I'm feeling like its time for N.C. and The LITTLE CLAM to own the new WORLD record SNOWY GROUPER!!!!! It may as well be me.:D:D
You go Jack!! But here's the question..will Mrs. Meoff be on the boat on the 10th? Cause if she is, you know that world record will probably take her bait..not yours :)
