We normally stay up in Rodathe in August, but this year schedule demands a June 1st vacation and Friso is the spot... What would be my option of choice, Surf or sound and should I bother to trailer my 20ft Grady down, I live in Va so trailering is not to bad? Last year I left the boat home and had a ball just casting and walking across the sound nothing big or even worth keeping, but lots of relaxing fun. Any help would be appreciated c.hale

Follow the actions of the Federal judge who will be ruling on a proposed injunction on April 3rd to find out if you'll be able to drive on the beach for the surf fishing. Currently environmental groups have proposed an injunction that would prevent year-round driving at Oregon Inlet, on the Hatteras Point and portions of the south beach, Hatteras Inlet, and both ends of Ocracoke Island.
If you haven't heard about the injunction, check out the OBPA or NCBBA website for information. If you like to drive on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreation Area please get involved in the effort to keep these areas open.

Take the boat.
We'll be down in Hatteras June 8th for a week. We usually go around that time of year.
We fish out of my 20' Kencraft.
You should be able to troll clark spoons off HI for blues and spanish. Run further off the beach if you feel lucky for bigger things. And you can fish several spots in the sound for trout and drift the channels for flounder. And.....the boat helps to get to clamming spots in the sound.
Plus, you can always fish the beach or wade the sound. Just gives more options.
Good luck, and it we be nice to get a fishing report before we head down.
Take care,
Tom

200 yards to a mile is good.
Cruz the Beach, when you come across some Rays, there will be a Cobe.

We see more cobia right off the Frisco pier area every year on the way too and from the Point. Look for turtles, and rays. They usally have a cobia around them. I will be down that same week in Hatteras village sight fishing for the cobia.
