On a related note, I hear that some puppy drum are being caught around The Point. Also, the first big drum was caught and released earlier this week on Ocracoke Island.

Anybody planning to go to The Point this weekend while you can still drive out? I'm going down Saturday morning...

Do you know who to contact about the preservation society? Driving out there is definitely a good thing, my buddy and I are planning to be around the point this weekend. Has anyone ever tried flyfishing in that area?

:: The Outer Banks Preservation Association :: (http://www.obpa.net)

NCBBA (http://www.ncbba.org)

Island Free Press - Hatteras and Ocracoke Island online newspaper (http://www.islandfreepress.org)

These are all good places to get started with understanding what is going on. If you just read the newspaper you will get a very skewed interpretation. Imagine that.

All money earned from OBPA memberhsips and donations goes to the fight. Lawyers to represent us against those big box environmental groups like the Defenders of Wildlife and the Audubon Society are very expensive.

The hearing in front of Judge Terrence Boyle is April 3. Both sides will be allowed to present evidence. I have no idea how long it will take the judge to make a ruling and then how long it will take the NPS to begin to enforce whatever the new ruling is.

It is conceivable that APril 3 will be the last day you can got to the point, the inlet or the beaches at Oregon Inlet.
