taking boat to outer banks

There's a small ramp on the sound side, nothing on the ocean side in corolla, the closest ocean side ramp would be in Manteo

The ramps right at the Corolla lighthouse, there is also a small marina there, but there is never any boats in it? I think that kind of tells you whats going on fishing wise in that part of the sound. You might do alright crabbing. I've too thought about taking my boat down but just doesn't seem to be worth the trouble.

The bigger question is where are the fish that you can catch in a boat that size? Your options are blues and spanish mackeral in the near ocean by trolling, motoring out to the AR's or the towers (that's a stretsh..20 miles..better be slick calm with no storms..I wouldnt do it but the amberjack fishing is insane)..best bet for you is to go into the sound and look for speckled Trout or schoolie stripers on the bridges (Currituck). There is a terrific day long Seminar we're putting on.."Fishing the OBX sounds"..also we offer surf and pier fishing classes at TW;s in Nags Head every monday and tuesday nights in the summer. see Outer Banks Fishing School (http://www.obxfishingschool.com). Hope you can make it otherwise..fish the sound..my advice! Classes really help for a lifetime of skipping the guesswork

woo yeah be careful going out of the inlet in that boat can get pretty bad:yes:

look for drum,spec trout,fluonder,catfish,white perch around the narrows.Find a hole and fish it every and any way you can.Talk to the local guys about the channels over there because the sounds are very shallow.They should have a channel marked from the ramp to the deeper water or the channel.Get a map of the currituck sound and look for the big narrows and the little narrows.a map is woth more then gold.Look at the map there are some major pinchpoints in that area where every fish that comes up into the sound has to go through.Stripers are always there but the season will be out so be careful.some great fishing in that area year round.manteo bridge or oregon inlet is also another choice but inside the inlet can be tough that time of year as the waters are shallow and have warmed alot.Fish EARLY or LATE for the best results and i mean the crack of day.When you get ready to come down call me at 252-207-6938 and I will let you know on the latest things i have heard.

Ride down to oregan inlet ramp in there and fish green island slough on the south side of the bridge. Flounder should be fair. Red fish, bluefish, spainish and trout can be from nothing to great just depends.
